The Lincolnshire Bird Report 2023

We’re pleased to announce that the 2023 Lincolnshire Bird Report is now at the printers and will be with you in the coming weeks! This annual report is the result of an enormous collaborative effort. We thank all observers and organisations who shared records with the Lincolnshire Bird Club (LBC), as well as our County Recorder, Phil Hyde, who oversees record collation, editing, and content management. The Lincolnshire Bird Records Committee (LBRC), chaired by Nige Lound, vets our records, with Roy Harvey providing administrative support. Phil Espin contributes species trend analysis and coordinates rare breeding bird data for both the report and the national Rare Breeding Birds Panel.

Our database is now managed by Charlie Barnes at GLNP, with key technical input from Jon Cooper. This year’s data draws from a range of sources across 2022 and 2023. We’re pleased to include a full ringing report again this year, thanks to Professor Carl Soulsbury, offering a fresh take on county ringing data. Special thanks go to our species account contributors: Graham Catley, Andrew Chick, Phil Espin, Vin Fleming, Andrew Henderson, and Phil Hyde. We are also grateful to our many talented photographers for sharing images taken in Lincolnshire during 2023, all credited in the report. We hope you enjoy the report and thank you for supporting bird recording and conservation in Lincolnshire.

Records and Contributions for the 2023 report The Lincolnshire Bird Report is an annual summary of bird records, articles, and photographs. We're always looking for volunteers to help with future reports, if interested, please contact: chairman@lincsbirdclub.co.uk.
