Whooper Swans - Deeping Lakes

6th Jan Deeping Lakes: with much water frozen, many of the c.150 Whooper Swans present were standing on the ice. Two individuals were noted carrying white darvic rings: 34F and 36C. Both were ringed at Sandvatn, Myvatnsheioi, Iceland on 10.08.23 and were recaptured at the same site on 07.08.24. Today's sighting represents the first sighting of 36C since 2024, while 34F has previously been recorded at Crowland 28.01.24, and Welney WWT on 23.11.24.
