Re mystery birds, to my discredit, I overlooked the bird watching  me watching the pintail. Until I saw the photo.Anyone care to chance their arm on an ID? To set the ball rolling, how about redshank x little owl hybrid? Or perhaps it’s a curlew?

Looks very much like a hybrid mallard crossed with a domestic duck such as an Aylesbury.

Had a couple more visits to  try and catch sight of the pintail to no avail. However first visit at dawn saw what i thought were approx. 6 mallard on the pools though at distance, i have since checked the images as one of the drake birds had a noticeably longer neck , the white pattern at the front of the neck was also dissimilar to that of the other mallard in her company. I attach several pics as i am puzzled if indeed it is a mallard.?. I have since returned this afternoon and the bird is still in company with other mallard but still at distance. Any ideas anyone /  Whilst there i was entertained by four wigeon having a preening session on the water , and include a couple of pics showing their beautiful colourings.
